In Bangkok they will eat anything – and I mean ANYTHING! And if you own a bike, you have a food stall. A few minor conversions – weld a half oil drum barbecue to the handlebars or a washing-line complete with clothes pegs (to display your wares) to the rear mud-guard - and you’re in business.
Some of the more identifiable barbecued offerings included skewered meat, wizened chicken wings and charred fish. The washing line contraption seen on the back of some of the bikes was used to display dried squid, which were neatly pegged up in lines like shrivelled pop socks.
But why go for something so mainstream when you can try fried insects? Yes, for 20 baht (30p) you can have a nutritious and delicious bag of meal worms, locusts or even cockroaches. Huh! Anyone who wants to eat cockroaches is welcome to come and stick their head in our rubbish chute – I wouldn’t even charge! Needless to say we couldn’t bring ourselves to try the roaches but we did brave the meal worms and the locusts.

Yup another well travelled person we know told me of the delights of Bangkok,think I may give this one a miss on my continuing world tour.
